The decline in fossil fuel storage in recent years has made the energy crisis increasingly apparent. As a renewable energy, solar energy is favored with sufficient reserves and low development costs. Accordingly, photovoltaic (PV) technology has become critical for research and development in the world. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is essential for PV systems. It can fully and effectively utilize solar energy for photovoltaic power generation to improve energy conversion efficiency. This paper introduces and analyzes the conventional MPPT methods, and the corresponding advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. At the same time, this paper also introduced four kinds of intelligence MPPT methods. Finally, the different MPPT methods are systematically compared and analyzed, and future research in related fields is discussed.
