In Indonesia, the transportation sector consumed about 388.4 million barrels of oil in 2021, followed by the industrial sector, which used about equivalent to 317.6 million barrels of oil. Energy consumption came to a total of 909 million barrels of oil equivalent. By forcing frequent vehicle stops and lengthening their travel times within the traffic network, traffic congestion significantly affects fuel consumption across the entire network. Following a ranking of 46th in 2021, Jakarta is currently listed as the 29th most congested city in the world. The development of vehicle-detecting sensors has allowed for the implementation of actuated traffic control techniques at actual traffic intersections. The actuated control strategies that are currently in use could be improved, though. This study suggests implementing road traffic management using the Internet of Things and vision-based detection technology. A proposal for IoT and vision-based detection technology in road traffic management systems using YOLO and SORT, as well as a workflow for road traffic monitoring, is the outcome of this research.
