A pulsed and optically pumped FIR laser with a mesh coupling and a sta ble cavity has been designed. Its cavity length can be adjusted. More than 40 FIR laser lines emitted from D/sub 2/O, Ch/sub 3/F, CH/sub 3/OH, HCOOH, CH/sub 2/I/sub 2/ and CH/sub 2/Br/sub 2/ have been studied.
