The main goal of this study is to develop a mode-choice model for Sharjah City in the United Arab Emirates. A travel questionnaire was designed to collect information regarding three sections that directly impact mode choice of transportation. After the data cleansing process, a total of 16,201 records were used in further analysis. One of the standard methods, also known as traditional statistical methods, used for modeling mode choice is the multinomial logit (MNL) regression method. This study utilized the MNL model to develop a mode-choice model for Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. For this purpose, we used 15 independent variables covering household characteristics, trip-maker characteristics, and trip characteristics. The developed MNL model achieved an accuracy of 76%, which is considered acceptable since the average prediction accuracy for the MNL model is around 70%.
