V2V communication is being evolved as one of the most promising technologies in order to reduce road accidents, and traffic congestion. It also helps in providing road safety, traffic efficiency and infotainment applications. The vehicles are expected to share information about their speed, distance, velocity. This information could be leveraged to mitigate the problems leading to road accidents. In this paper, we present a detailed and in-depth study of two technologies- IEEE 802.11p and LTE-V2V being under active consideration for use in vehicular communication. In future work, we are willing to obtain the better results by considering IEEE 802.16e as well.
