In this paper, the secrecy performance of a re-configurable intelligent surfaces (RIS)-aided Device-to-Device (D2D) communication system in a cognitive cellular network is analyzed where the D2D transmitter is bound to energy constraints. A scenario of inband-underlay D2D communication is considered where a single-antenna D2D transmitter (Alice) harvests energy from a multi-antenna power beacon (PB) to communicate with the D2D receiver (Bob) utilizing the licensed spectrum of primary cellular network in presence of a passive eavesdropper (Eve). An RIS is used to aid the communication between Alice and Bob by providing high-quality wireless links. The overall network model is compartmentalized into the energy harvesting and message transmission models to analyze the wireless power transfer and information transmission. In the energy harvesting model, an exact expression of power outage probability at Alice is derived. Analytical expressions for D2D outage probability and secrecy outage probability are derived for the assessment of the reliability and secrecy performance of the system. The results are presented to corroborate the analysis of the proposed model, followed by crucial conclusions based on established results.
