Lightweight electric vehicles have become a cleaner option for urban transportation, offering a promising solution for sustainable mobility. However, creating a well-designed lightweight electric vehicle involves many factors that must be carefully considered to ensure their feasibility and effectiveness as a mobility solution. This paper presents a comprehensive design methodology and explores various considerations specifically tailored for a Shell Eco-marathon battery electric prototype. While existing research papers touch upon similar design methodologies, a complete description of vehicle systems remains elusive. Our approach incorporates a detailed breakdown of each vehicle system and innovative problem-solving strategies. Furthermore, significant emphasis is placed on material modifications to minimize carbon footprint, surpassing previous efforts in vehicle development. Through this exploration, we research the complexities of lightweight electric vehicle design, digging into the vital aspects contributing to their success as a sustainable mode of transportation.
