Entire rail transit vehicles and subsystems, including propulsion, control, auxiliary electric, doors, communications, air comfort, truck and suspension, friction brakes, car body, coupler, and carborne automatic train control (ATC) equipment, can be modeled using proven simulation programs such as PSPICE and SABER. Such a model is presented to show how accurately and easily systems can be simulated. The model is used as an example to demonstrate the advantage of simulating the vehicle systems for specification, design, procurement, maintenance, and operation of rail transit vehicles.<>
