3D finite element analysis (FEA) is a frequently-used and high accurate method for designing and analyzing axial flux machines. However, such a method suffers from long running time, which is inconvenient in design and optimization of the motor. This paper focuses on a dynamic equivalent magnetic network (EMN) model that takes leakage and magnetic saturation into account, which improves the accuracy of the model. A parameterized and modular modeling approach for EMN is presented, making it suitable for analyzing motor performance under different loads as well as slot/pole combinations. The calculated results of EMN model under different working conditions are compared with the FEA results, demonstrating the effectiveness and accuracy of the model.
