As a safety system on the road, the guardrail system is significant for the safety of the vehicle and the driver. This article uses a Ford Taurus model and a designed guardrail model. Three potential guardrails with a good energy absorption effect are analyzed, and the traditional traffic drum guardrail is selected to be transformed and optimized in the final design. Select the material and shape of the guardrail to optimize the design, and analyze the collision situation of the car body through simulation. During the collision, the blocking effect of the guardrail on the car and the intrusion of the cab after the collision are of concern. After analyzing the simulation results, the final guardrail has excellent performance, the added corrugate structure has the effect of energy absorption, and the safety of collision is guaranteed. This analysis method can also be used for any other crashworthiness optimization between the car and the guardrail.
