Electric vehicles (EVs) have ignited a technological revolution in the automobile industry, offering significant environmental benefits through reducing pollution and emissions. However, adopting this transformative technology presents challenges, especially in developing countries like India. To promote the successful integration of EVs, comprehending the expectations and requirements of individual users is necessary. So, this study aims to identify these influencing factors from the Indian user's perspective. For that, a survey was conducted using a Google Form questionnaire and distributed through personal contact and social media platforms to collect data across diverse Indian regions. The survey garnered 205 responses, with 74% male and 26% female participants. Respondents represented different city tiers, with 20% from tier-1 cities, 42% from tier2 cities, and 38% from tier-3 cities. Participants' ages ranged between 18 and 65 years. The study explores the impact of social demographic factors and distinguishable factors on EV adoption. Additionally, it uncovered the primary expectations and requirements of Indian users towards EVs. These encompass economy (40.9 %), performance (38.6 %), charging infrastructure (36.8 %), service availability (13.4 %), environmental benefits (11.1 %), range in a single charge (5.3%), and hybrid options availability, combining both electric and fuel energy variants (1.2 %). By illuminating user expectations and requirements, this study offered valuable insights to facilitate the successful implementation and adoption of EVs in India.
