This paper proposed a multi-phase-adaptable bus lane sharing strategy. It enables not only left-turning but also through Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) to share Bus-Priority Lanes (BPLs) while causing no interference with buses. The proposed strategy bears the following features: i) guarantee absolute bus priority while allowing CA Vs to share a BPL; ii) enable multi-phase-adaptable bus lane sharing (MBLS); iii) enhance traffic efficiency by grouping CA Vs with the same turning intention. To evaluate the proposed strategy, a microscopic simulation experiment was conducted. Results confirm the above features. A detailed investigation of the results shows that the proposed strategy should be implemented on busy roads.
