The suitability of exploiting the microring resonator transfer function features to develop tunable microwave photonic filtering tasks is demonstrated. Proof-of-concept implementation involving four taps is presented. The degree of tunability of the approach is theoretical and experimentally characterized. Different window based scenarios are evaluated for enhancing the filter performance in terms of quality factor and side-lobe level.
