With the rapid development of intelligent Internet-connected vehicles, the electronic control unit (ECU), as a core component of the automotive electronic system, plays a key role in the control and monitoring of vehicle sub systems. The ECU mainly relies on the controller local area network (LAN) bus ID for identification and communication, and an attacker can realize an attack on the ECU communication system by tampering with the ID, which has a certain security risk. Aiming at the problem of ECU trusted authentication, this study proposes an ECU authentication mechanism based on endogenous security theory. The mechanism adopts a dual authentication architecture: the first one is access authentication, and the second one is message authentication based on dynamic heterogeneous redundancy (DHR) architecture. By constructing the dual authentication system, the security of ECU authentication and message transmission is effectively improved. Simulation experiments show that the proposed authentication mechanism ensures the credibility and strong robustness of ECU authentication.
