With Egypt's residential districts and gated communities growing at an exponential rate, the issue of transportation within them has gained increased attention. Most of these gated areas lack any transportation options other than private cars, challenging eco-friendly mobility. This work presents a smart shared-bike system that offers a practical and affordable short-distance mobility option for places with limited transit options. The system promotes green and light transportation, aiming to decrease the carbon footprint by replacing pollutive vehicles with bikes. It is structured into three modules: a hardware module integrating embedded Linux with loT on a Raspberry Pi for data collection and an anti-theft module, a mobile application developed in Flutter for user interactions, and a web application serving as an admin panel for monitoring. Features include a smart lock for bike access, GPS for bike tracking, an accelerometer for detecting theft attempts, and real-time data transmission to Firebase. The implementation of this smart shared-bike system not only addresses transportation challenges in Egyptian residential areas but also offers economic advantages and supports sustainable mobility solutions.
