This paper presents real-time implementation of fault detection and prediction methods, based on signals generated from multilevel current source inverters. These inverters are located within the instrumentation & control (I&C) structure of complex dynamical (e.g., energy and aerospace) systems. The task of implementation adopts the field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology with due consideration to optimization of cost, size and weight of the associated I&C unit.
