CubeSats have been widely used for space research due to lower cost and faster development. Electric power system (EPS) is one of the key subsystem of CubeSat which powers all the other subsystems. The successful mission of CubeSat requires highly efficient and reliable EPS as there is no possibility of maintenance after launch. The main objective of this paper is to study and compare floating battery and non-floating battery EPS architectures in terms of system efficiency and reliability. The comparison study is done based on the data of MYSAT-I which is an 1U CubeSat launched by Khalifa University. The comparison study concludes that floating battery EPS is most suitable for CubeSats.
