In this paper, the implementation of a scheme, based on rotational and shift random-phase encoded (RSRE) multiplexing a holographic data storage method images in a LiNbO/sub 3/:Fe crystal, is described. For an optical encryption/security system, in our proposed multiplexed scheme the reference beam serves in a very real sense as a key for data retrieval. The possibility of decryption in the proposed system can be estimated when one has one random-phase key (holographic diffuser) that is used in the data storage.
