Mississippi State University was one of the original four university participants in the Office of Naval Research sponsored Electric Ship Research and Development Consortium. Over the last three years, the MSU team and its partners have done research in areas of modeling and shipboard data analysis; active filtering and compensation techniques; control systems; and reconfiguration of the power system and its support systems. This paper provides a summary of several key points related to the ESRDC research. Additionally other research efforts for visualization of smoke and fire patterns as well as lightning protection for naval ships is detailed.
