In this paper, we analyze the effect of compounding RML with SRE. We numerically model the MMF link under RML condition as well as the effect of SRE. Well known approximations for the model group-delay /spl tau//sub m/, and Laguerre-Gaussian polynomials are used for computing mode-field profiles. The external efficiency /spl eta//sub m/ of each mode to the multisegment detector is computed by the overlap integral between the mode intensity and the detector. A two-segment, SRE where the detector signals are subtracted, is simulated by alternating the polarity of detector responsivity. Finally, the normalized, overall link response is computed. The link is simulated with and without SRE enhancement for various illumination condition is compared. The induced optical loss commensurate with the suppression of higher order modes by SRE is also compared.
