We demonstrated frequency tunable millimeter wave (MMW) pulse generation using a Mach-Zehnder-modulator-based flat comb generator (MZ-FCG). The MMW pulse was generated by photomixing of a band-controlled pulse train and a single-mode light extracted from a comb signal generated by the MZ-FCG. The comb signal had a 12.5 GHz-spacing, 260 GHz-width, which was converted to a 3 ps-width pulse train by chirp compensation using a single-mode fiber. The single-mode light was extracted by an optical DEMUX and the band-controlled pulse train was extracted by an optical bandpass filter. By photomixing them, a MMW pulse was successfully generated.
