To date SHG and SFG powers (at 255 and 271 nm) over 1 watt have been obtained from a single copper vapour laser (CVL) oscillator at optical conversion efficiencies (based on average powers) over 20%. For master oscillator power amplifer (MOPA) arrangements, stable SHG and SFG powers approaching 4W have been obtained for 18 W (1510 nm) and 9W (578 nm) incident power. Our current investigations are aimed at minimising wavefront distortions in the CVL gain media, optical components, and beam delivery paths, and thermal effects in the nonlinear material.<>
