This article proposes a compact pulsed power supply for specific loads such as laser weapons and electromagnetic (EM) field weapons on more electric aircraft. The power supply for this is a permanent magnet (PM) compensated pulsed alternator (CPA) with a Halbach array rotor. This article proposes a design for the special topology and working conditions of the PM CPA, including the calculation of the main and key parameters, constructing a detailed EM analytical calculation regarding the comparative analysis of the existence of the compensation and EM field under no-load and discharging conditions. Targeting its characteristics of instantaneous discharging, this article models and analyzes its temperature field and investigates the instantaneous thermal rise distribution of the CPA. This article also simulates the stress field according to its transient impact during transient discharging. Combined with the characteristics of the ms-level discharging conditions of the CPA while being coupled with the EM thermal rise structure, a coupling field simulation model was established, with the simulation results hereby given. On this basis, the EM performance of the CPA was simulated and with the influence of temperature and stress on the antidemagnetization characteristics of the CPA simultaneously being evaluated. This article systematically evaluates the reasonability and feasibility of the overall design.
