Aimed at providing reference for pedestrian traffic management and accident prevention, this paper analyzed the pedestrians’ behavior of red-light violation at signalized intersections and its influencing factors. Video record of 890 pedestrians’ crossing behavior at signalized intersections was analyzed to explore the effects of individual characteristics, group characteristics and traffic environment on different pedestrian crossing behaviors. Basic statistical methods and chi-square test were used to reveal the basic characteristics and key influencing factors of pedestrians’ behavior of the conformity red-light violation and active red-light violation. Furthermore, the binomial Logit model of pedestrian crossing behavior was established to compare the significant influencing factors of conformity red-light violation and active red-light violation. The results showed that five variables of traffic flow, headway, waiting time for pedestrian crossing, the number of pedestrians crossing the red light and the setting of red-light countdown display had significant correlation with pedestrian crossing behaviors. The number of pedestrians crossing the red light and the headway both had significant impact on the rate of pedestrians’ conformity red-light violation. The rate of active red-light violation was sensitive to waiting time of pedestrian crossing and the number of pedestrians waiting for crossing.
