The swashplate axial piston pump (SAPP) in electro-hydrostatic actuator (EHA) systems occupies specific structure features and work conditions??especially in thermal aspect. Thinking of contents above, six-unit control volumes thermal model of the SAPP in EHA is proposed in this paper. This novel model is composed of three key points. Firstly, mechanical movement characteristics and interior heat of the pump are newly emphasized and calculated based on the generalized cylinder segregation. Secondly, further discussion is made based on the transfer control volume to explain relationships between the pump (the subject of this paper) and other parts of systems. Thirdly, various thermal processes of different control volumes are reconsidered to allow new model to reflect actual situations more reasonably and in details. Last but not the least, necessary data, relationships, simulations and discussions are presented to obtain final conclusions.
