The data recorded by Flight Data Recording System (FDRS) can be used for the status monitoring of the aircraft and the evaluation of the mission executed by the pilot, and so on. However, the data recording process is often affected by various factors, such as electromagnetic interference and maneuvering of the aircraft and so on, resulting in the existence of outliers and noise in stored data. The aim of this paper is to deal with outliers and noise of navigation data in FDRS. The causes of outliers in navigation data are analyzed firstly, with a reference suggestion proposed. Then the Letts criterion is used to eliminate outliers and the Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) method is applied to eliminate or reduce the noise of data. Real flight data recorded by FDRS have been processed based on the presented methods. Results demonstrate that outliers are removed and the navigation data are denoised effectively.
