This paper presents an application of digital cartography for automobile security systems. The knowledge of the car position on a digital map allows to anticipate the infrastructure geometry in front of the vehicle. The fusion of this information and that from onboard digital camera and radar is used to detect special configurations that may lead to an accident. The scenario studied in this paper deals with the approach of a crossroad : the algorithm takes into account the vehicle speed, the detection of other vehicles and an estimation of their intentions to estimate the danger level of the scene.
