In recent years, the increase in the number of flights has led to air traffic congestion and flight delays. This problem can be effectively solved by reducing the gap between air traffic. In order to ensure the safety and smoothness during the implementation of narrow vertical interval, the safety under Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum operation needs to be evaluated. This paper mainly uses improved the Event model to assess narrow vertical interval, and uses double stitching quadrangular pyramid instead of initial cuboid to compute collision risk of parallel route on adjacent level. In this paper, the B747-8 airliner is taken as an example, and its relevant parameters are brought into Matlab software for testing. The improved collision risk is 14.3 % of the traditional event model. Therefore, the improved model has practical value and can provide relevant theoretical basis for the study of vertical separation risk between aircrafts.
