This paper introduces a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a state feedback control gain matrix that assigns a specific eigenstructure to a given continuous LTI control system. The derivation of the condition utilizes the Kronecker product identity of vectorized matrix triplets products. Moreover, an explicitly parameterized Moore-Penrose generalized inverse-based formula is derived for all control gain matrices that assign an arbitrary allowable eigenstructure to a continuous LTI control system. The derived eigenstructure assignability condition is used to assess several eigenstructures on longitudinal and lateral helicopter state space dynamical models. Also, the proposed eigenstructure assignment control gain formula is used to obtain the corresponding state feedback control gain matrices that assign the allowable eigenstructures to the helicopter models.
