A closed-loop gain shaping algorithm for an SIMO system is presented in this paper. The closed-loop transfer function matrix of an SIMO system must be singular, so the closed-loop transfer function should be assumed a singular matrix, and then the robust controller is designed. The closed-loop gain shaping algorithm is applied to the rudder roll-damping system. The nonlinear mathematical model of a rudder roll-damping system is researched and built, and is realized by programming in Matlab. The controller designed is applied to the nonlinear model, and then simulated by Simulink. The simulating curves are analyzed and compared, and a conclusion can be drawn that the designed controller has good control performance and robustness, the roll reduction rate is about 50%.
