In this paper, a fuzzy based control system is considered for three-axis stabilization of a micro-satellite in low earth orbit through electromagnetic actuators only. Accordingly, an adaptive fuzzy control strategy is proposed to compensate Euler angles errors indirectly. The torque coils are excited so that the orbital frame magnetic field and body frame magnetic field coincide. For improving the performance of the fuzzy controller, a genetic algorithm based optimization is employed to adjust fuzzy membership function parameters. The results show that triaxial attitude stability can be achieved by keeping the pitch angle less than 1 degree, and roll and yaw angles less than 4 degrees near the poles and equator. To prove the performance of the proposed approach the results are compared with a common LQR controller.
