This research analyzes the use of stator bridges to reduce noise and vibration (NV) in fractional slot surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) having 12-stator slots and 10-rotor poles (12s/10p). Several stator bridge designs in the stator geometry are proposed and investigated for NV reduction. Then structural-harmonic and acoustic analysis were used to quantify the comparative vibration and acoustic noise performance of the investigated design features.
