The Intelsat-IX (I-IX) communications satellites require transmit and receive C-band global horn antennas, which radiate circular symmetric beams to cover the entire Earth. These antennas must provide simultaneous dual circular polarization with extremely high isolation between the right-hand polarized (RHCP) and left-hand polarized (LHCP) beams. The antennas being developed to meet this need consist of three basic sections: (1) An orthogonal mode transducer (OMT); (2) A polarizer; (3) A dual mode corrugated horn (DMCH).
