This research presents a three-port Direct current-Direct current converter for connecting a Li-ion battery and an ultracapacitor to the drive system of an electric vehicle (EV). The suggested converter handles pulse currents in an EV drive train by utilizing an ultracapacitor and steady state current with a battery. With a single switch control and a low component count, the suggested converter may conduct simultaneous boost and buck operation. The ultracapacitor and DC bus ports can transmit power in both directions, allowing the ultracapacitor to supply and absorb peak currents during acceleration and braking. Continuous current is maintained at the battery port in the proposed converter to improve battery life. In the control loop, a low pass filter is employed to separate the transient current from the steady state current. Simulation is utilized to conduct a steady state analysis and verify the performance of the proposed converter across all operational modes.
