This paper proposes a navigation optimization strategy based on adaptive dynamic programming for ship navigation problems in complex ocean environments. This strategy dynamically adjusts the navigation path to achieve a balance between safety and economic benefits by conducting real-time monitoring and analysis of the external environmental factors where the ship is located, such as wind speed, waves, ocean currents, etc. This article first introduces the design idea of the adaptive dynamic programming algorithm in detail, and establishes an optimization model based on the particularity of ship navigation. During the model construction process, multiple constraints were added to ensure the versatility and practicality of the algorithm. In the system simulation process, the effectiveness and adaptability of the algorithm were verified through multiple sets of experiments under different sea conditions. Experimental results show that this algorithm can significantly improve ship navigation efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and ensure navigation safety under complex sea conditions. Data analysis shows that compared with traditional path planning methods, ships using the adaptive dynamic planning algorithm shorten the sailing time by about 15% and reduce fuel consumption by about 10%. This research provides a new technical path for the navigation optimization of smart ships in complex marine environments, and lays an important theoretical foundation for the development of future technologies in this field.
