This study investigates the effects of road irregularities, such as speed bumps and potholes, on vehicle dynamics and driver behaviour to enhance simulations for Autonomous Vehicle (AV) systems. Using Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) with Tightly Coupled (TC) integration techniques, we gathered accurate speed profiles and reaction metrics from participants as they navigated these obstacles in a controlled environment. Analysis reveals that obstacle type and vehicle speed significantly influence driver reaction times and distances. These insights provide crucial data for improving adaptive cruise control (ACC) and AV navigation systems, making them more responsive and intuitive by replicating complex human reactions. This research demonstrates how comprehensive behavioural data can inform the development of AV technologies, promoting safer and more efficient driving in varied conditions.
