This paper develops a new gain-scheduling control based on performance degradation with constrained control inputs for aeroengine with strong nonlinearity. This is accomplished by constructing an improved on-board adaptive aeroengine model to estimate engine performance degradation. Meanwhile, multiple operating points are selected in the flight envelope of the engine and the controllers under engine normal state and performance degradation state at these operating points are designed and scheduled by scheduling parameter and health parameters to control the plant. Simulation results show that the developed gain-scheduling controller can be used effectively to control a degraded turbofan engine for large thrust commands, with guaranteed stability and proper tracking performance.
