Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been considered to extend the coverage area of a terrestrial network. For example, a single UAV can travel to collect data from (remote) ground users or nodes that are unable to directly communicate with ground base stations (BSs). However, if ground users need to be reliably connected at certain data rates, it would be necessary to form a network over ground users with static UAVs. To this end, in this paper, we study a UAV-network for integrated access and backhaul (IAB) in non-terrestrial networks (NTNs), where a UAV becomes an IAB node that is connected to other IAB nodes for backhaul transmissions and acts like a BS to ground users. For the transmit power allocation of UAVs to support given data rates of ground users, we formulate and solve an optimization problem that minimizes the total transmit power of UAVs. In addition, a generalization with multiple paths is studied using a well-known clustering algorithm after defining the notion of the mean path corresponding to the cluster center in standard clustering algorithms. Through simulations, we can confirm that the more paths, the less the total transmit power of UAVs.
