A steering actuator including a motor having a rotor including opposing input and output ends. A driven gear is supported on the input end of the rotor shaft for rotation with the rotor shaft and the output end provides a rotational output of the steering actuator. An override shaft is supported for rotation parallel to the rotor and a drive gear is supported for rotation with the override shaft wherein the drive gear is longitudinally movable relative to the driven gear to engage and disengage the drive gear relative to the driven gear. A coupling structure is provided on an end of the override shaft for detachable engagement with an auxiliary driver. The auxiliary driver provides a rotational driving force to the override shaft for effecting rotation of the rotor shaft.
