A system for charging an electric vehicle from an overhead position includes a storage container defining an interior space therein and a bottom lid connected to the storage container. A charging cable fits within the interior space of the storage container. A charging controller connects the charging cable to a power source and has wireless communications hardware to receive wireless data that operates the system. An automated actuator is in data communication with electronic hardware to move the charging cable out of the storage container. A lid cable and/or a retractor cable is connected to the automated actuator to control the position of the bottom lid and/or the charging cable.
