The invention relates to the field of transport engineering. The present epicyclic gearbox comprises a drive shaft on which is mounted a gear that is connected to an input shaft of a main epicyclic reduction gear and is in meshing engagement with another gear that is connected to an input shaft of an additional epicyclic reduction gear. The ring gears of said epicyclic reduction gears are configured to be capable of rotating freely in bearings and are provided with tangential locking means. The output shafts of each of the epicyclic reduction gears comprise gears that are connected to one another by means of a rigid or flexible transmission. The carrier of each epicyclic reduction gear is formed integrally with the end of the input shaft or with the end of the output shaft. The transmission of torque from the drive shaft to an output shaft takes place when the ring gear of the main or the additional epicyclic reduction gear is locked by the tangential locking means. The result is broader applicability, greater structural simplicity, reduced labour and material costs, greater reliability, a longer service life and greater ease of maintenance and repair.
