An electric vehicle battery management system and a method thereof are disclosed. The battery management system according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a plurality of battery modules assembled in a battery of an electric vehicle; a piezo element that is installed inside the case of the battery modules and generates an electrical signal by mechanical external force applied due to the swelling phenomenon of a pouch-type battery cell; and a battery management system (BMS) that adjusts the amount of charge of the battery when the voltage value of the electrical signal received from the piezo element exceeds a threshold.

    전기차 배터리 관리 시스템 및 그 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 배터리 관리 시스템은, 전기차의 배터리에 복수로 조립된 배터리 모듈, 상기 배터리 모듈의 케이스 내측에 설치되며 파우치형 배터리 셀의 스웰링 현상에 따라 가해지는 기계적인 외력에 의해 전기적 신호를 발생하는 피에조 소자 및 상기 피에조 소자로부터 수신된 상기 전기적 신호의 전압값이 임계치를 초과하면 상기 배터리의 충전량을 조절하는 BMS(Battery Management System)를 포함한다.
