In accordance with the present invention, provided is a method for operating an independent liquefied hydrogen storage tank. The independent liquefied hydrogen storage tank, which is an independent tank manufactured as a structure independent from a vessel body to be mounted in the vessel body, includes: a primary barrier formed of a tank body; an insulating layer installed on the outside of the primary barrier; a secondary barrier installed between the primary barrier and the insulating layer to completely surround the primary barrier or partially installed only in a specific area determined considering the possibility of leakage of the primary barrier; and an insulating space formed between the primary barrier and the secondary barrier. The method includes: a vacuum forming step of forming a vacuum in the storage space and the insulating space; a liquefied hydrogen shipping step of loading liquefied hydrogen into the storage space; and a helium gas injection step of injecting helium gas as inert gas into the insulating space. Therefore, the present invention is capable of reducing costs for the use of helium gas.
본 발명은 선체와는 독립된 구조물로 제작되어 선체에 탑재되는 독립형 탱크로서, 탱크 몸체로 구성되는 1차 방벽; 1차 방벽의 외측에 설치되는 단열층; 1차 방벽과 단열층 사이에 1차 방벽을 완전히 둘러싸도록 설치되거나 또는 1차 방벽의 누출 가능성을 고려하여 결정된 특정 부위에만 부분적으로 설치되는 2차 방벽; 및 1차 방벽과 2차 방벽 사이에 형성되는 단열공간을 포함하는 독립형 액화수소 저장탱크에 있어서, 저장공간 및 단열공간에 대하여 진공을 형성하는 진공 형성단계; 저장공간 내부에 액화수소를 로딩하는 액화수소 선적단계; 및 단열공간에 불활성가스로서 헬륨가스를 주입하는 헬륨가스 주입단계를 포함하는, 독립형 액화수소 저장탱크의 운용방법을 제공한다.
