The present invention relates to a system for automatically controlling a turn signal lamp and a method thereof. The system for controlling a turn signal lamp according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: an input unit which receives driving situation information; a memory in which a program is stored to determine whether it is necessary to automatically control the turn signal lamp by using the driving situation information; and a process which executes the program. The processor is configured to: check whether automatic control of the turn signal lamp is required by using the driving situation information including road guide information of a navigation, steering control information, and turn signal lamp control status information; and transmit, when the turn signal lamp is not turned on in a situation where automatic turning of the turn signal lamp is required, a turn signal lamp automatic turning command signal. According to the present invention, it is possible to inform surrounding vehicles of an intention to change a direction of a driving vehicle, and thus, safety can be improved.

    본 발명은 방향 지시등을 자동 제어하는 시스템 및 그 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 방향 지시등 제어 시스템은 주행상황 정보를 수신하는 입력부와, 주행상황 정보를 이용하여 방향 지시등 자동 제어 필요 여부를 판단하는 프로그램이 저장된 메모리 및 프로그램을 실행시키는 프로세서를 포함하고, 프로세서는 네비게이션의 길 안내 정보, 조향 제어 정보 및 방향 지시등 제어 상태 정보를 포함하는 주행상황 정보를 이용하여 방향 지시등에 대한 자동 제어가 필요한 상황인지 여부를 확인하고, 방향 지시등 자동 점등이 필요한 상황에서 방향 지시등이 점등되어 있지 않은 경우, 방향 지시등 자동 점등 명령 신호를 전송하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
