The present invention relates to a method for applying a color (202) to an aircraft (206), an apparatus, a system and a computer program product. The color (202) for an outer surface (220) of the aircraft (206) is determined by a computer system (212) from a design (216) of the aircraft (206). A position (222) of the color (202) in a three-dimensional space is determined by the computer system (212). The position (222) is located in a color space coordinate system (224). An inkjet printer (234) having a point cloud (230) of a plurality of point clouds (238) having the shortest Euclid distance (244) to the position (222) of the color (202) with respect to the inkjet printers (228) is selected by the computer system (212). The inkjet printer (234) is used to apply the color (202) to the outer surface (220) of the aircraft (206).
