The present invention relates to a scavenge air cooling system for a vessel, capable of reducing the fuel consumption of an engine by cooling scavenged air at a lower temperature through existing equipment installed in a vessel without additional equipment, and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the scavenge air cooling system for a vessel includes: a scavenge air cooler including a single-stage cooler and a two-stage cooler cooling scavenged air flowing into an engine; a clear water cooler cooling first coolant for cooling an apparatus requiring cooling by exchanging heat with seawater; an inert gas cooler cooling inert gas by exchanging heat between the inert gas and a second coolant; an evaporator cooling the second coolant to be supplied to the inert gas cooler through a refrigerant circulated in a refrigerant cycle; a clear water branch line connecting the clear water cooler with the single-stage cooler, and supplying the first coolant cooled by the clear water cooler to a refrigerant of the single-stage cooler; and a coolant branch line connecting the evaporator with the two-stage cooler, and supplying the second coolant cooled by the evaporator to a refrigerant of the two-stage cooler.

    본 발명은 추가 장비 없이 선박에 설치되는 기존 장비를 이용하여 소기를 더 낮은 온도로 냉각시킴으로써 엔진의 연료 소모량을 절감시킬 수 있는 선박의 소기 냉각 시스템 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 선박의 소기 냉각 시스템은, 엔진으로 유입되는 소기(scavenge air)를 냉각시키는 1단 냉각기 및 2단 냉각기를 포함하는 소기 냉각기; 냉각이 필요한 장치를 냉각시키는 제1 냉각수를 해수와의 열교환에 의해 냉각시키는 청수 냉각기; 불활성 가스와 제2 냉각수를 열교환시켜 불활성 가스를 냉각시키는 불활성 가스 냉각기; 냉매 사이클을 순환하는 냉매에 의해 상기 불활성 가스 냉각기로 공급할 제2 냉각수를 냉각시키는 증발기; 상기 청수 냉각기와 1단 냉각기를 연결하며, 상기 청수 냉각기에서 냉각된 제1 냉각수를 상기 1단 냉각기의 냉매로 공급하는 청수 분기라인; 및 상기 증발기와 2단 냉각기를 연결하며, 상기 증발기에서 냉각된 제2 냉각수를 상기 2단 냉각기의 냉매로 공급하는 냉각수 분기라인;을 포함한다.
