The present invention relates to a foreign matter detection system, which comprises: a transmission pad for transmitting wireless power in a magnetic field manner; a foreign object detection (FOD) pad disposed on the transmission pad and having a plurality of detection patterns for detecting a metal object or living organisms; and a FOD circuit electrically connected to each of the plurality of sensing patterns according to switch control, checking output voltage corresponding to the connected sensing patterns, and outputting a foreign matter sensing signal when the output voltage is different from a reference value, wherein the FOD circuit may detect change in magnetic inductance or capacitance according to the approach of the metal object or the living organisms.

    본 발명에 따른 이물질 검출 시스템은, 자기장 방식으로 무선 전력을 전송하는 송신 패드, 상기 송신 패드 위에 배치되고, 금속 물체 혹은 생명체를 감지하기 위한 복수의 감지 패턴들을 갖는 FOD(foreign object detection) 패드, 및 스위치 제어에 따라 상기 복수의 감지 패턴들의 각각에 전기적으로 연결되고, 상기 연결된 감지 패턴에 대응하는 출력 전압을 확인하고, 상기 출력 전압이 기준값과 상이할 때 이물질 감지 신호를 출력하는 FOD 회로를 포함하고, 상기 FOD 회로는 금속 물체 혹은 생명체의 접근에 따른 자기 인덕턴스 혹은 커패시턴스의 변화를 감지할 수 있다.
