Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a load-bearing traction member. According to the method of the present invention, a composition including thermoplastic polyurethane, a compound including a plurality of epoxide groups, or a compound having a plurality of groups having chemical formula AA (in the chemical formula, R_1 and R_2 are independently a group in a polymer backbone or form a group having chemical formula =NR_4 together, and R_3 and R_4 each independently represent an organic group) is heated in a fluid state, is applied on at least one tension member, and is solidified to form a polymeric jacket around the tension member.
