The present invention relates to an engine for a ship and a control method for the engine for the ship. According to the present invention, the control method for the engine for the ship comprises: a step of measuring a rotary speed of a crank shaft; a step of controlling a volume of gas fuel in accordance with the measured rotary speed of the crank shaft to supply the gas fuel to a cylinder, and to compress and burn a mixture of the gas fuel supplied to the cylinder and air; a step of measuring a combustion pressure of the mixture burned in the cylinder; a step of calculating an indicated mean effective pressure based on the combustion pressure; a step of determining whether the calculated indicated mean effective pressure belongs to a pre-set reference indicated mean effective pressure range or not; a step of, when the calculated indicated mean effective pressure is an error or it is not possible to calculate the indicated mean effective pressure, determining whether a scavenging pressure supplied to the cylinder equals an estimated scavenging pressure or not; a step of, when the scavenging pressure supplied to the cylinder equals the estimated scavenging pressure, determining a volume of gas fuel to be supplied to the cylinder; and a step of, when the scavenging pressure supplied to the cylinder is different from the estimated scavenging pressure, returning to the step of controlling the volume of gas fuel in accordance with the measured rotary speed of the crank shaft. The present invention aims to provide the engine for the ship and the control method for the engine for the ship, which are able to rapidly control a volume of gas fuel in accordance with a load of the engine and to supply the gas fuel to the cylinder.

    본 발명은 크랭크축의 회전속도를 측정하는 단계, 상기 측정된 크랭크축의 회전속도에 따라 가스연료의 양을 조절하여서 실린더에 공급하고 실린더에 공급된 가스연료와 공기의 혼합물을 압축 및 연소시키는 단계, 상기 실린더에서 연소되는 혼합물의 연소압력을 측정하는 단계, 상기 연소압력으로부터 지시평균유효압력을 계산하는 단계, 상기 계산된 지시평균유효압력이 기설정된 기준지시평균유효압력범위에 속하는지 여부를 판단하는 단계, 상기 계산된 지시평균유효압력 값이 오류이거나 상기 지시평균유효압력 값을 계산할 수 없으면 상기 실린더에 공급되는 소기압력이 예측 소기압력과 동일한지 여부를 판단하는 단계, 상기 실린더에 공급되는 소기압력이 예측 소기압력과 동일하면 실린더에 공급하는 가스연료의 양을 결정하는 단계, 및 상기 실린더에 공급되는 소기압력이 예측 소기압력과 다르면 상기 측정한 크랭크축의 회전속도에 따라 가스연료의 양을 조절하는 단계로 복귀하는 단계를 포함하는 선박용 엔진 및 선박용 엔진 제어방법에 관한 것이다.
