The present invention provides a pedestrian collision prevention apparatus and a method considering pedestrian gaze, capable of protecting a pedestrian by activating a PDCMS function when an accident is highly likely to occur by recognizing the pedestrian and considering the gaze direction of the pedestrian. The present invention includes: a front detection sensor detecting the presence of a pedestrian on a driving lane of the vehicle, gaze information of the pedestrian, and a distance and a relative speed between the pedestrian and the vehicle; a vehicle sensor detecting at least any one of a speed, acceleration, a steering angle, a steering angular velocity, and the pressure of a master cylinder of the vehicle; an electronic control unit activating a pedestrian detection and collision mitigation system (PDCMS) function based on information detected by the front detection sensor and the vehicle sensor; and a warning unit operated to inform a driver of a collision of the pedestrian with the vehicle by control of the electronic control unit. The PDCMS function includes activation of the alarm unit and the brake regardless of whether the driver operates the brake, and the activation of the alarm unit and the brake is performed in the order of the alarm unit operation, the partial braking of the vehicle, and the full braking of the vehicle.

    본 발명은 자동차의 주행차선 상 보행자의 존재, 보행자의 시선정보, 보행자의 자동차에 대한 거리 및 상대 속도를 감지하는 전방 감지 센서, 자동차의 속도, 가속도, 조향각, 조향각속도 또는 마스터 실린더 압력 중 어느 하나 이상을 감지하는 차량 센서, 전방 감지 센서와 차량 센서에서 감지한 정보를 기반으로 PDCMS(Pedestrian Detection and Collision Mitigation System) 기능을 작동하는 전자 제어 유닛, 및 전자 제어 유닛의 제어에 의하여 운전자에게 자동차와 보행자의 충돌을 알리도록 작동하는 경보부를 포함하고, PDCMS 기능은 경보부의 작동, 및 운전자의 브레이크 작동 여부와 관계없는 브레이크의 작동 활성화를 포함하고, 경보부의 작동 및 브레이크의 작동 활성화는 경보부의 작동, 자동차의 부분 제동, 자동차의 완전 제동의 순서로 수행된다.
